During the upcoming 2009 election, many people have expressed hope that Ahmadinejad will be kicked out of office. Naive people seem to believe that with Ahmadinejad gone, then things will get all better. The truth is that they won't. Iran was a global threat way before Ahmadinejad became president in 2005.
If Ahmadinejad loses the election, it is no cause for celebration. Guys with the same ideology still hold power, continue with their terrorism, export of Fundamentalism and their nuclear weapons program for the global jihad. With all this hope about Ahmadinejad getting out of office, what about the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei?
It's the Supreme Leader who holds all of the power in Iran. The President just holds the second most power and is the puppet of the Supreme Leader. Iran's Valayet-e-Faqih system is set up where the regime only allows their guys to run in an election.
The truth of the matter is that Khamenei is not really better than Ahmadinejad. Both men hold the same reactionary interpretation of Islam. In fact, it was Khamenei who rigged the 2005 election for Ahmadinejad to come in. Even with the regime's thugs competing against each other in 2005, Ahmadinejad was the most appealing to Khamenei.
I don't just hope for Ahmadinejad to be kicked out of office. I also hope for Khamenei to be kicked out of office and for the role of Supreme Leader to be dismantled. Ahmadinejad is one of the most vicious monsters for the Iranian regime. But he's not the only man in the regime. In fact, he doesn't even hold all of the power, just the second most power to Khamenei, who is just like him.
The 2009 election, even with Ahmadinejad kicked out of office, won't produce significant change for Iran. Iran would still continue to have an oppressive regime that exports terrorism, exports Fundamentalism, builds nuclear weapons for the global jihad and that is a global threat. Iran's Foreign and Domestic policy would still be very similar, as it was before Ahmadinejad came into office.
I hope Ahmadinejad is gone. I also hope that Khamenei is gone. In fact, I hope that the pro-democracy movement wins in Iran. I don't just hope for Ahmadinejad to lose the election. Sure, he may no longer hold his cushy seat as President. But guys who hold a very similar ideology as him still hold continue to rule Iran, build nuclear weapons, export terrorism, export Fundamentalism and are still a global threat to the world. Iran needs a Fundamental change, not just a face change over who is the Supreme Leader's puppet.
